The input variable *$fspec* tells the methods in this package the file specification for file names used as input to the methods. Thus, when using methods in this package, the method may load up to two File::Spec submodules methods and neither of them is a submodule for the current site operating system. Supported operating system file specifications are as follows: MacOS MSWin32 os2 VMS epoc Of course since, the variable *$^O* contains the file specification for the current site operating system, it may be used for the *$fspec* variable. fspec_glob method @globed_files = File::AnySpec->fspec_glob($fspec, @files) The *fspec_glob* method BSD globs each of the files in *@files* where the file specification for each of the files is *$fspec*. fspec2fspec method $to_file = File::AnySpec->fspec2fspec($from_fspec, $to_fspec $from_file, $nofile) THe *fspec2fspec* method translate the file specification for *$from_file* from the *$from_fspec* to the *$to_fpsce*. Supplying anything for *$nofile*, tells the *fspec2fspec* method that *$from_file* is a directory tree; otherwise, it is a file. fspec2os method $os_file = File::AnySpec->fspec2os($fspec, $file, $no_file) The *fspec2os* method translates a file specification, *$file*, from the current operating system file specification to the *$fspec* file specification. Supplying anything for *$nofile*, tells the *fspec2fspec* method that *$from_file* is a directory tree; otherwise, it is a file. fspec2pm method $pm_file = File::AnySpec->fspec2pm( $fspec, $relative_file ) The *fspec2pm* method translates a filespecification *$file* in the *$fspce* format to the Perl module formate. os2fspec method $file = File::AnySpec->os2fspec($fspec, $os_file, $no_file) The *fspec2os* method translates a file specification, *$file*, from the current operating system file specification to the *$fspec* file specification. All testing software and documentation stems from the Software Test Description (STD) program module 't::File::AnySpec', found in the distribution file "File-AnySpec-$VERSION.tar.gz". The 't::File::AnySpec' STD POD contains a tracebility matix between the requirements established above for this module, and the test steps identified by a 'ok' number from running the 'AnySpec.t' test script. The "\n" end of line is different on Mr. Smokehouse's Unix operating system than on my Windows NT operating system. The test file was created under MSWin32 and uses a MSWin32 "\n". Under UNIX, *pm2datah* method will look for the Unix "\n" and there will not be any. Changed "\n__DATA__\n" to /[\012\015]__DATA__/. During the clean-up for CPAN, broke the *format_hash_table* method for tables in hash of hash format. VAR1 was empty. Now VAR1 has something. It is not completely dead. One probable cause is the Unix operating system must be producing two Unix \012 new lines for a Microsoft single newline \015\012. Without being able to examine the test with a debugger, the only way to verify this is to provide the fix and see if the problem goes away when this great group of testers try for the fourth time. Revised *fin* method to take a handle, change *pm2datah* method handle, *$fh*, to binary by adding a *binmode $fh* statement, and pass the actual thru the *fin* method for test 18. Very pleased the way the File::Package funcstions and the "Test" dual input ok function remotely reported the error messages from loading the "File::AnySpec" module with a require. File-AnySpec-0.03 File-AnySpec-0.04 Change test so that test support program modules resides in distribution directory tlib directory instead of the lib directory. Because they are no longer in the lib directory, test support files will not be installed as a pre-condition for the test of this module. The test of this module will precede immediately. The test support files in the tlib directory will vanish after the installtion. File-AnySpec-0.05 Added subroutine interfaces. Use Archive::TarGzip 0.02 that uses modd 777 for directories instead of 666. Started to get emails from Unix about untar not being able to change to a directory with mod of 666. File-AnySpec-0.06 Added the 'Data-Secs2' to the 'tlib' test library. Upgraded to the 'Test-Tech' module that uses the 'Data-Secs2' module. The lastest build of "Test::STDmaker" expects the test library in the same directory as the test script. Coordiated with the lastest Test::STDmaker by moving the test library from tlib to "t/File", the same directory as the test script and deleting the test library File::TestPath program module. Changed from the obsolete "File::PM2File" program module to the "File::Where" program module. 3.4 Adaptation data. This installation requires that the installation site has the Perl programming language installed.
